women should be celebrated

The mere presence of women in this world ought to be a reason for tremendous celebration for all of us.

In Genesis 2:21–22, when God introduced Eve to Adam after making her from one of Adam’s ribs, Adam was so happy when he saw the woman that he shouted with great joy saying, “This is finally bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh! She will be called woman because she came from man” (Genesis 2:23). Surprisingly, the very first words a woman heard from a man revealed his delight in her existence.

At that point, the woman hadn’t done anything other than just exist by God’s power. Nevertheless, just having a woman around led Adam to rejoice. Even without being told, Adam knew that the woman is a very special gift to him.

And just like the way Eve immediately sensed Adam’s delight in her, it would be appropriate for Christian women to often hear us men continually expressing our gratitude for the magnificent gift they are to us.
